About Ultrasound
A complimentary modality well recognized for its usefulness in assessment and evaluation of breast disease, breast ultrasound is most often used for assessment of a mammographic finding to determine whether it is solid or cystic (full of fluid). Breast ultrasound is also used to evaluate palpable lumps not seen with mammography and very dense breast tissue.
When a nodule is found, breast ultrasound can be used to guide breast biopsy. Visit our Ultrasound page for general information on ultrasound.
