MRI images are produced by a magnetic field and radiowaves passed through the body. There are no known harmful effects from MRI.
Our MRI unit is a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla Siemens Symphony unit that can perform the entire complement of body, MSK and neurological imaging. Breast MRI, with a dedicated breast coil and dedicated breast software, is a leading edge adjunct to breast imaging. This is useful for assessing breast neoplasms and for evaluating implants for the possibility of rupture.
Common uses for MRI include investigation of neurological symptoms, bone and joint disease, abdomen and pelvis disease and blood vessel abnormalities.
